Pet Portrait Commission

February 19, 2018

I’m so excited because I just received a commission to do a pet portrait. I really enjoy doing these types of portraits in hopes of making the receiver of this remember the wonderful, beautiful, and happy times they shared with this pet. This dog that I will be painting is going to be done in watercolors with reference to crossing the rainbow bridge. It will be a bit of a challenge, but I love a challenge, and the reward that comes with it. But what makes me happiest is the giving and knowing that I am bringing some type of joy to the receiver of this painting. I have been in their shoe

s and know their loss and their joy.
I will keep you posted as this painting progresses.

Here are some paintings I previously did of pets…

Break Time

February 17, 2018

My pastel painting “Break Time” received an Honorable Mention award in the the North Port Art Center’s juried show “Life in the Pond.” This painting was of a turtle resting on some broken branches that fell into the pond. I thought it was interesting that the branches were partially submerged under water and that the turtle was almost camouflaged on the branch sticking out of the water.

Change of Pace

February 13, 2018

After some time experimenting with some different types of art, I returned to my pastels and just wanted to do something different from my norm. So I created this pastel face. It’s not my usual, but I kind of like it. I haven’t titled it yet, but it brings to mind the Billy Joel song “Stranger.” I feel like she is hiding partially behind a mask. Maybe a masquerade! Well, we all have a face that we hide away forever…image
