Break Time

February 17, 2018

My pastel painting “Break Time” received an Honorable Mention award in the the North Port Art Center’s juried show “Life in the Pond.” This painting was of a turtle resting on some broken branches that fell into the pond. I thought it was interesting that the branches were partially submerged under water and that the turtle was almost camouflaged on the branch sticking out of the water.

Change of Pace

February 13, 2018

After some time experimenting with some different types of art, I returned to my pastels and just wanted to do something different from my norm. So I created this pastel face. It’s not my usual, but I kind of like it. I haven’t titled it yet, but it brings to mind the Billy Joel song “Stranger.” I feel like she is hiding partially behind a mask. Maybe a masquerade! Well, we all have a face that we hide away forever…image

Wave I

I recently created this pastel painting of waves, trying to capture the foam and spray and the sunlight coming through a section of a breaking wave. It was a challenge which I enjoyed. So thankful to the judges who gave it a Merit Award in a recent Juried Show.

Pound Puppy

May 8, 2017

Isn’t she just the cutest? I saw this Puppy at the pound and just had to paint her picture! Lucky for me I don’t go there often or I would want to adopt every dog.

This was done with hard and soft pastels on Uart 500 paper.
